 COMPUTER NETWORKING

Definition

A grouping of computers and peripherals connected together by telecommunications links to enable a group of users to share and exchange data. It is a collection of nodes (essentially devices that produce, process, and consume information or devices that have digital data that they can share) connected by a link in such a way that the nodes can share data among themselves. Hence, a network must have at least two nodes and a medium to connect them together so that they can send or receive information.

Networking is a convenient way of making information accessible to anyone, anytime, and anywhere.

Saving data through the use of floppy disks is not an efficient or cost-effective manner in which to operate businesses.

A computer network is a collection of autonomous computer and other computing hardware devices that are interconnected by a single technology using communication channels to facilitate communication and resource-sharing among a wide range of users.
